What is a Safety Switch?

A safety switch (RCD) prevents electric shock or zapping. Safety switches are for people. Safety switches are not like circuit breakers, which protect appliances from power surges. To protect your family and prevent injury, safety switches must be installed in every home. Safety switches are required in all homes built after 1992. Safety switches are not required in homes built before 1992. No matter the age of the property, a landlord must install safety switches to lease it.

What is a Switchboard?

The switchboard is the heart of your home’s electric circuit. It’s where all of the electrical “nerves” in your home meet. Old switchboards may need to be replaced as they cannot handle the increased load of new appliances.

A new switchboard may be required if you have flickering lights and the power keeps tripping off.

We will inspect your home if you have any concerns or experienced problems.

Smoke Alarms and My Legal Obligations

The Queensland Government passed legislation requiring smoke alarms in all rooms and hallways of new and renovated homes and properties built after January 2017.

These requirements will apply to any property that is sold or leased after January 20,22.
